Privacy Policy

Nerd ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at asknerd.ai (the "Site"). Today the Site is a marketing page for an early-access product, with a short form businesses can complete to request a relevant follow-up, and a sign-up door for creating a workspace. The public form does not create a product account. This Privacy Policy explains the information we collect through the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have. For the purposes of the EU and UK GDPR, we are the data controller of the information described here, and you can reach us at hello@asknerd.ai.

1. Information We Collect

Email correspondence. If you email us, we retain that correspondence so we can respond and keep a record of the conversation.

Analytics and usage data. We use Google Analytics, with IP anonymization, to understand how visitors navigate the Site (for example, pages viewed and where signups come from). If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we do not set analytics cookies until you accept them in our cookie banner; before that, any measurement runs only in a limited, cookieless mode. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and you can turn it off at any time through the cookie banner, which we then remember. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to operate and secure the Site.

Contact form submissions. When you use the form, you give us your work email and company name. You may optionally tell us which systems hold your pricing, who owns your quote desk, and roughly how many quotes a month you answer. We store these details and the submission date to evaluate early-access fit and make any follow-up relevant. We do not send an automated report back, and nothing you enter is used to score or rank you.

Spam prevention. To keep automated submissions out of our forms, we use a hidden honeypot field and, where enabled, Google reCAPTCHA. reCAPTCHA may collect device and interaction signals to tell humans from bots; its use is governed by Google's privacy policy.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use strictly necessary storage to operate the Site and to remember your cookie choice. Optional analytics cookies load only after you accept them in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and by default elsewhere until you decline them. We do not use advertising cookies, sell data to ad networks, or track you across other websites for advertising.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To evaluate early-access fit and reply to you about your own quote desk.
• To create and operate the workspace you sign up for.
• To contact you about early access, the product, and related updates you've expressed interest in.
• To respond to your emails and support questions.
• To understand, secure, and improve the Site through aggregate analytics and server logs.
• To detect and prevent spam, abuse, and security incidents.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Legal bases (EEA/UK). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following lawful bases under the GDPR: your consent for analytics cookies (which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests in evaluating form submissions, operating the workspace you sign up for, contacting you about the early access you requested, securing the Site, and preventing spam and abuse; and compliance with legal obligations where the law requires us to retain or disclose information.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share data only with the service providers that help us run the Site:

• Google (Firebase & Google Cloud). The Site is hosted on Firebase Hosting, and form submissions and workspace data are stored in Google's Firebase Firestore database. Google processes this data as our service provider.
• Google Firebase Authentication and Gmail. Firebase Authentication sends sign-in, verification, password and team invitation emails. Early-access and join request emails are sent from our Google Workspace (Gmail) mailbox.
• Google Analytics and reCAPTCHA. Subject to your consent (for analytics) and for spam prevention, Google processes the measurement and anti-abuse signals described above.
• Legal obligations. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
• Business transfers. If Nerd is acquired or merges with another company, form, workspace and early-access information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll notify you before your data becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.

Where we process data. Nerd is operated from the United States, and your data, including processing by Google as our service provider, may be stored and processed in the U.S. and other countries. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, where required.

4. Data Retention

We keep form submissions for as long as we're evaluating or in contact with you about early access, and workspace and contact information for as long as your workspace is active. You can ask us to delete either at any time (see below), and we'll remove it from active storage within 30 days. Aggregate analytics and records we're required to keep by law may be retained longer.

5. Your Choices and Rights

• Cookie consent. You decide whether to allow analytics cookies through the banner on the Site, and you can change your mind at any time.
• Access and deletion. Email us at hello@asknerd.ai to access, correct, or delete the information you've given us.
• Opt out of contact. Ask us to remove your early-access submission and we'll stop contacting you about the product.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with applicable data protection laws, you may have additional rights, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on your consent, you have the right to withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that already took place. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@asknerd.ai. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

California residents. If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. 6. Security

Form submissions are stored in Firebase Firestore under create-only security rules: the Site can add a new submission but cannot read back or modify existing entries from the browser. Workspace data is stored under security rules that scope every read and write to the workspace it belongs to. We serve the Site over HTTPS and rely on Google Cloud's encryption at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect to reduce risk. If you believe you've found a security issue, please email us at hello@asknerd.ai.

7. Children

The Site is intended for businesses and for individuals at least 18 years old. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site and product evolve. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance.
